Privacy

No accounts, no names, no contact details. Nothing on our server identifies you directly.

Stored in this browser: a browser key (a random value for contests), sound on or off, your last piece count and cut, when your reward ends, and the last week you finished. Clearing browser data removes them.

  • Puzzles run inside this browser. Photos you use in Use my photo are never uploaded. Painting files come from our own site.
  • If you join a contest, the leaderboard server stores a hash of your browser key (never the key itself), the period and division, your time, how many times you dropped a piece, whether you used helpers, timestamps, and your reward end date. To count browsers on one network it keeps a hash of your IP address mixed with a value that changes daily, for 40 days. It never stores actual IP addresses. Records stay so the leaderboard can show them. Email us below to have yours removed.
  • The puzzle screen asks our shared leaderboard service (ranks.gwirae.com) whether your helper subscription is open. That service may set a cookie (rk_k) to recognize this browser. When you start a contest it gives this browser a link number that goes on your record, and after each deadline the division rankings (start of the key hash, link number, time) go to that service to become titles. Records held back from rewards are not sent. If you press 'Link this record to a Gwirae account' on the finish screen, this browser's jigsaw key is sent to that service, which keeps only the first 24 characters of a hash made from it. Names only appear for people with a Gwirae account; see that service's privacy policy.

  • Otherwise the server only keeps anonymous counts: the date, a step name such as opened, started or finished, the page language, and a rough referral label. No times or paintings go into these counts.
  • To cover costs we may show Google AdSense ads on the finish screen and guide pages. Google may use cookies or ad identifiers under its own policies. No ads load while you're solving.

Keeping and deleting

Leaderboard records and rewards stay after a period ends so the boards can be shown. Start tickets are deleted after 3 days and network hashes after 40. Values in your browser go when you clear browser data.

This site is served through Cloudflare, which automatically inserts an analytics script into our pages. We didn't add it, so we set the browser to refuse it. That data doesn't go out. The tag itself is still inserted upstream, and we'd rather you knew.
