Contest rules

Every week and every month, everyone solves the same painting at the same piece count and cut style. Pieces are cut fresh for every run. This is exactly what the server does.

The server keeps time

When you press Start, the server hands you a start ticket and notes the time. When the last piece joins, your browser sends the ticket back and the server subtracts. The clock on screen is only for you.

The clock keeps running if you leave the tab open and do something else. There's no pause.

Play a division as often as you like. Only your fastest time stays. Ties go to whoever finished first.

Pieces are cut fresh every time you open a puzzle. Within a division the piece count, cut style, tab size and wobble range are the same; only the cut lines differ. The cut number is saved with your time so that exact puzzle can be rebuilt.

Deadlines

Weekly contests run Monday 00:00 to Sunday midnight, Korea time (UTC+9). Monthly contests run from the 1st 00:00 to midnight on the last day, Korea time.

Only runs finished before the deadline count. Start before the deadline and finish after it, and it won't count.

Times we don't accept

Too fast for the piece count. A robot that knows every answer and moves faster than a human hand still needed close to 0.19 seconds per piece. Anything under 0.18 seconds per piece is rejected.

Too few drops. One drop can join at most four neighbors, so fewer drops than one eighth of the pieces can't finish a puzzle.

No start ticket, a reused ticket, another browser's ticket, or more than 48 hours since start.

Top rewards

Weekly: the top 3 in each division get the helper pack free for 7 days. Monthly: the top 3 in each division get it for 30 days. Days count from the deadline.

Rewards stick to the browser that set the time. Switch browsers or clear site data and you lose them. No money, no cash-like prizes, no codes you can pass on.

Open the site after the deadline and you'll see the reward, with helpers unlocked.

Times held back from rewards

Times with these marks stay on the leaderboard, but the reward passes to the next person. So a leaderboard place and a reward place can differ.

Under 0.6 seconds per piece. That's within two or three times the robot floor, and we can't tell it's a person.

Fewer drops than half the pieces.

Averaging under 0.25 seconds per drop.

Four or more browsers on the same network set times in the same period on the same day. Offices and schools share networks, so these stay on the leaderboard.

Helpers and the leaderboard

Everyone gets Show picture and Spread out. Cut lines, Sort by color and Gather edges are the helper pack, unlocked by rewards.

If your pack is open you can use it in contests too. There's one leaderboard, and runs with helpers show a helper mark. Nothing is hidden.

What this can't stop

A program that moves pieces slowly like a person gets through. The server only sees time and drop count.

Names come from your browser key. There's no text box, so no slurs or personal details end up on the board.
